Frozen Curry cubes!
This can save you so much time and effort. Seriously.
Maybe smart people already do this, but I discovered it by accident.
I was actually supposed to be making chicken and vegetable Biryani. I started with the chicken curry paste. Then somehow, the plan changed and i was supposed to just make the biryani. But I had curry paste.
So I just figured, flavoured rice. Good enough.
I just dumped the curry paste into the rice cooker and make the rice with that…It was surprisingly biryani-like.
Which is very little effort for something that tasted pretty good!
So I learned the value of having curry paste on hand.
Alas, having curry paste in your fridge just won’t last you that long and you might feel pressured to keep making the same flavoured curry over and over again…
So we come to the solution: The freezer. Or frozen cubes.
Recipe: I used this particular one, but feel free to go with whatever curry paste you want.
I roughly cut up 3 onions and 1 tomato. Fry them up in some oil, or ghee.
Add 2 tbsp garlic paste. 1 tsp ginger paste. 1 tsp garam masala. 1/2 tsp chili powder. 1 tsp coriander powder. 1/2 tsp turmeric. 1 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp pepper. 1 tsp cumin. 1 tsp fennel.
When it’s sufficiently cooked up, leave it to cool (so it doesn’t damage your food processor/blender, then food process/blend till it’s a paste. Add water if necessary. Put back to the pan and cook for longer.
Leave to cool again and put them in the ice cube tray:
Then later, hours later, take them out and put them in a container. Check this out. (I made a lot, OK?)
And then I made some mildly flavoured rice, which was quite nice. (Just take some of the curry paste add them to the rice cooker when making rice.
Then another time, I made some meat curry…
There we go, super time saving, tasty, and versatile.
