Chicken Rice Attempt #1


Pardon my last post. I’m not sure what happened. They were good fudgy brownies, though. Even better with ice cream. 😎

Anyway, today, I was looking in the fridge…and was pretty much out of ideas. My idea brain was somewhere in sleep mode. Couldn’t even be poked or prodded awake by the aforementioned Beautiful Fudgy Brownies

Anyway, I recruited ShFizzle for her beautiful ideas. As always, she came through! Turns out she’s a genius! Who knew?

Anyway, I made somewhat chicken rice-like rice. Confused? Well we can’t all be geniuses like ShFizzle. I am, of course referring to rice that tastes somewhat like chicken rice, but not in its entirety. I perhaps could have upped the dosage of Garlic and Ginger paste when I added it to the rice in the rice cooker. Of course, one puts salt and upon ShFizzle’s suggestion, I put ½ an onion, finely chopped. If you want, throw in a chicken cube(optional) which I did not as I did not have it on hand.

As you can see in the photo, it bears a striking resemblance to plain rice, yet provides a subtle tang to enhance one’s taste buds. Pretty impressive, huh? Me, I mean. I should be a writer of some kind…

Yeah, so the chicken. The marinade, which consists of 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp Olive Oil, 1 tsp ground cumin, ½ tsp cumin, 1 clove garlic (I lazied out and used garlic paste), 1 tsp vinegar, salt and pepper to taste (I put quite a bit of salt, since honey is sweet and I want chicken to be more salty than sweet). All this was for one chicken breast, chopped.* I just stir fried it on the stove.You could also double the marinade for one whole chicken and bake it… I’d imagine that would also be yummy.

There was also salad… Oh salad, you unique, demanding creature that you are. I won’t go into the details of this particular recipe, and allow ShFizzle to give it’s proper due with the proper appreciative audience who can enjoy apple in salad, as well as not rant about how huge the lettuce is only to realize it was cabbage after all…yeah, not one of my best moments…

Also, while Skyping AFizzle, we were discussing food in a shocking new development of our relationship, and Gherkins were mentioned. I found out Gherkins are cucumbers. Cucumbers. Gherkins = Small pickled Cucumbers = What is generally referred to as Pickes!!!!???? WHAT!? NOBODY TOLD ME THIS. It’s kind of blowing my mind.

On a side note, speaking to AFizzle on Skype can be a unique experience. Rarely does someone randomly wander off the screen randomly croaking (I mean proper throaty croaking) the star wars imperial march…

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, the salad was quite pretty, and I feel compelled to give ShFizzle proper appreciation regardless of my faulty taste-buds so I’ll sign off with a pretty picture of it:
